I have pretty much read every post on this forum, I feel confident
that I am ready to ask a question. I have recently started buying up domain names that I think will turn a profit. Some are long term some are short term but I think on the longevity of the return to be a moot point. I am thinking of creating a farm of inter linked ad serving sites to generate money with on a regular basis. In the mean time tho I have my domain names parked at SEDO.com earning me pennies at the moment. I would like some peoples opinion on how to proceed, furthermore it would be really helpful if someone plays both sides (parking vs. ad farm) and is able to share their experience. I sure think everyone is out there to make money at the end of the day so what is the best way to do it?? -Nik |

Wow!! There are a few parts to your question!!
1. As far as parking at SEDO, maybe people have made money with the parking but I don't know anyone that has!! Sedo is more for advertsing and selling domains and i can say that some MONEY hangs out there and if you have an All Star domain, you might turn some nice money!! For regular $$ domains I'm sure that you would do well selling here or on other domain forums! 2. There are many sites that are not considered Link Farms such as informative blogs or directories that may generate some cash as well as build in value if you build the PR as well as other sites that you can put in your portfolio but do not do more than you can maintain in a quality way! 3. Alot of us play the domain game and once in awhile you can hit it lucky and buy a domain that turns out to be a winner and it receives a magic offer, or you put a site up on it and it draws the crowd but as with alot of us, if a domain isn't doing anything than it has to go, but there may be someone that has a use for it and you can get your money back or close or even make a small profit! 4. Long Term Domains?? There are alot of stories about people that became very wealthy over a single domain sale but in my opinion, it is a crap shoot and my luck has been that the domains that I think are excellent don't do a thing and the opposisite for the ones that I didn't have a good feeling about.......Go Figure!!!! But this just scratches the surface!! Stick around and I guarantee that you will see many ways to make money on the internet!

First you have make your self clear about the business idea of your. If buy domains for resell purpose then you should promote and market your names according to that. domain parking places like Sedo would earn you something only if you have a good typo domain or a domain name with huge traffic. There is parking site called www.1plus.net where they give you dynamic content to you park domains there and also you can earn By
or YPN since there have built their system that way.

Any further advice? Should I create multiple blogs/directory listings? Should i just point all the domain names to one? Where do I start getting my self a website designer for the directory? Blogs i think I can manage. Wow sorry for all the questions, just so much stuff i want to learn and accomplish in life and so little time to do it in. |

I have to agree with the others. I've caught some lucky breaks and sold some domains on SEDO, but for the most part I found development actually makes more money in the long run. And allows you to control how your site is marketted, etc. Domains with sites attached generally go for more when sold.
There are plenty of places to get designers on the webmaster/domain forums that will help you out. Also there are the freelance sites that also have lots of people waiting for bids. There are plenty of good people around to get any website done. |

Actually i have "made" only about $2 on 31 of my parked domains at sedo.com, but I dont blame them. I just don't have that many unique visitors each day. I would love to bring up my uniques, but i am still in limbo as to wither to develop a site or just reap the benefits of $2 a month on parking them some where.
I wouldn't opposed to developing it but I know very little about making a site and I know even less about SEO. |
