I use Joomla as it is free open source and it has many free extensions that can be found on the net. WP suits mainly for blogs.

Well, i've used both and I can say both of them have some good features, so in general I would advise yo make a choice depending on your target

yes I agreed.. wored press is very simple one compared to joomla.. but joomla is very secured and good SEO friendly.. so i preferred only joomla CMS

depends on what you will be using the software for. wordpress is great for bloggin, while joomla is better for corporate or social websites.

I use BOTH systems for the company web site. Joomla!, lets me create and customize things like menus, download zones, galleries of images, a forum, etc. A link points to our blog implemented in Wordpress. There are blog extensions for Joomla, but WP is IMO better than those.

Joomla is both a CMS and a framework to add powerful extensions, and using just for a blog is overkill. Wordpress is a blog (and of course able to present a simple static web site), but is limited beyond that.

For Blogging you cannot beat WordPress, especially if you do the right setup, making the permalinks work right the .htaccess file and set the options to /%postname%/. Creating posts and giving it the special keyword tags is really easy.
Templates in Joomla make it easy to get a good layout for the site, and you can find lots of good free Joomla templates. For a good business website I suggest you look for a good commercial template based on a Table less design with external css files.

I have heard mostly good things and very few bad when it comes to wordpress. Good SEO, easy to set up and use, wonderful look. That's the way I want to go when I set up a site.
