My question is for all directory owners. What have you observed from last few months? I have seen a decline of about 80% in paid submissions and decline of 30% in free submissions. Do you think that end of directories is near?

yes Paid submissions have gone down badly after Google has started dislike paid links. things gotten worse after directories like alive directories lost their PR. I think people are now worried about paid submissions.

So what do you think would be the best bet for directory owners now? There should be some way to generate revenue otherwise they won't be able to survive in next few months..

We have seen a little drop in submissions in the last few months but it hasn't been terrible.

Directories are still an excellent source for advertising and OTHER in my opinion but we will see in the next couple of Goog updates!!

Let's not forget Yahoo and MSN which love backlinks from directories!

well i am not at all in support of the concept of general directory if you have a niche directory then its good but general directory need to go one or the other day.
