Here's a nice gist of Joomla features for you guys...
---- Joomla: The user and administrative interface for Mambo(Joomla) was one of the best-designed options on our shortlist. The information architecture of Mambo(Joomla) is structured around categorization (rather than tagging), which in practice imposes such limitations as precluding multiple categorization of inbound RSS feeds. A complete novice would probably be overwhelmed, but check on the following: Use Mambo(Joomla) when: * you don't know about the tech stuff at all * you want easy install & setup with your mouse * you don't want to learn the tool you're using * you don't need to integrate other scripts etc. to your site * you want a candy site and don't mind several other sites using the same template(s) * you don't need SEO out of the box * you don't care about server resources * you're running (or planning to to run) only one or max a couple of sites * you don't need one log-in to several sites * you don't need user groups & permissions * you don't run membership site(s) For Mambo(Joomla), you need to buy a commercial component from a core developer or use labor-intensive free ones. - Source In short, Joomla isn't really the best especially when you're not good developer. It's a tedious system and not really focused on SEO. |

I used to use joomla, but learned better.
When I was setting up one of my first sites - which was about 3 years ago - everyone recommended joomla. Ok, so that is what I went with. Lets just say that afer I used it for 2 - 3 months, I was starting to wonder "why" everyone recommended it. The support forums are terrible. Joomla is about as slow as a dead dog on the side of the road. No matter what I did, I could never get the site to load very fast. Even with a stripped down template with very few images, it still loaded slow. Its not secure - I got tired of ready the "please help me, my site was hacked" threads in various support forums. Here it is, about 3 years after I first tried joomla and I still can not figure out "what" people see in it. I think its "misery loves company". Either that, or most joomla users just dont know any better. I used joomla for about 6 - 7 months. After that, I had enough and moved to something else. About 10 months ago - in July of 2008 I installed joomla on a new site to see if anything had changed. And I still was not impressed. So I removed it from my site (yet again) and went with wordpress.
