Default full time online career ?

How many of you work your own full time online ? I have started working as a freelancer and also now run my own sites. I heard many people says its too risky but it seems not bad they some try to show.

I would love to work online full time. But the money takes a while to come to my pocket so I had to have a day job.

Is your full time job related to computers or internet ? My opinion is that everything has a risk even a fultime job. If you don't work properly you get kicked out of job, its same for online work too.

I would not work online because it is virtual and not reall. Actually it is not interesting . You work for money and do not get any satisfaction .

I don't think all those 1000's of professional webmasters, developers, designers, SEO specialists and other pros would agree with you. We all enjoy our work and its not just about money. I wouldn't give up my career for any kind of other job.

I wouldnt agree. It all boils down to what you want and how you are going to go after it.

I don't agree with that. It's very rewarding to see a site or application that you created rise in users or customers. I've worked online for the last 13 years, got a good paycheck, and did some cool work in that time. I will admit though working at home is tough in relation to personal relationships that you would have in an office. On the upside, you get to go to work in your pajamas. :)

I am now working as an artist/developer on my own and so far doing okay...

If I have a couple of sites more that pay just as much as those I currently have then I would consider retiring from my job :)

I think it is hard to earn good money from them. If you are in the way of a normal life, there is no meaning to be in this job. Go and work, it is easier to earn money. But if you don't have any job to do, intenet could be an opporunity for money, but as you mentioned, it is risky, I think.

I see. Well I don't say working off line is bad. First rule for a successful online career is that never rely on one income source. Even I give lectures at a computer institute as a off line job. Its not just for money but as a change from sitting in front of PC always. But they pay me wel too so its not badd. :p

In my opnion, its to risky, anything can happen. For a steady income, I would have a full time job, and having this on the side...

Although, I'm still student with no full time job:D

I think many have misunderstand on-line career. Internet it is not telemarketing and scamming on the net is not a job. Online career needs knowledge and project plan. Setting up just a 5 page stolen website or ripped template or copy pasting text or having a poor website would not make anyone rich. Reading tons of e-books on how to become rich quick would not help either (and simply if that guy knew.. he would not be selling e-books and hunting for buyers. He would have locked the secret in his safe). And hell no... you can not can quit your day job to start online career. If anyone wanted to make online career he would not have to quit his job and that is simple.. because his job would be already related to e-commerce or through experience he would have created a steady online company or something like that. I say that because i see many people on the net buying useless e-books and spending their money and their hopes.

That is only my opinion :)
