I use AdAware too but I also have Avast for virus protect.

I NEVER get viruses.....but I actually had one in one of our computers and it took setting up both Avast and AdAware for boot scans to get rid of it.

I think it was the win:32 zbot-ho (trojan)

It was a pain but now it is KILLED!!

Norton takes up too many resources for me and in my opinion doesn't do the job.

I always tell my friends to get the Norton out and install the free versions of Avast and Adaware and trust me, you will be safe and they run perfect!

Adaware free version: Go HERE

Avast Anti-Virus: Go HERE

They are very good!

Wow that Adaware version is free now.. I use to have the Pro Version back in the days, and it worked amazingly for me. I guess it's time to go back to Lavasoft.

Thanks Hunter1, I'm going to install them into all the computers in the house today.

True Norton takes much space. Worth it though.

Nah man thats what I thought till H1 told me to try Avast.

It's the same thing, but better. I love it, and to put icing on the cake, I have the Pro version of Adaware also.

With that combo, you just can't go wrong.

I had some kind of virus, win32: something and I did what Hunter suggested with the double hit thing with Avast and Adaware 2007 and it knocked it out.

That was a good thing to post for ref.

McAfee always does the job for me.
Norton - I cannot emphasise enough how poor this lot are.
Everybody I know who has had Norton has had their computers taken over by viruses and trojans.
Norton also comes as a free 3 month trial on many computers in the UK!

Go figure....

Default I use avast but..........

I use avast but had a something happen that avast does not fix. This is different. A HACKER
I clicked on one of my sites and there was a popup that said I had a virus and you could either ignore or click on Place in vault. It was some kind of spam blocker they were advertising.
I HATE THOSE GUYS that do crap like this. We all have spent money and work work work on our sites and these idiots try to ruin it for all of us. I use to have to take down the site in the past but did it another way. SO, I went to cpanel and found the code that the lowlife added to my site, and deleted the code but it took me awhile to find the code in all those files I looked in. Anyway the site is perfect now. Anyone having any problems like this with their sites? I think I got lucky this time
