Default How to promote a webmaster forum?

Forums typically generate revenue through adsense and other affiliate programs. I personally find it hard to promote a webmaster forum though.

I have tried writing articles and submitting them to article directories, posting in similar subject forums, commenting on relevant blogs, submitting to directories, and submitting to social bookmarking services.

I feel that is a pretty good mix of promotion techniques all free. I have also done some forum post trades and that is where most of my posts have come from.

Besides that I am just receiving spam posts that I have to delete. Just wondering if you guys could suggest any other promotional techniques.

Anyways here is the link: http://www.awebmasterforum.com

Lmao.

Nice domain name :P

I find that social bookmarking is the best technique. I have paid people to social bookmark dozens at a time, and I am getting a lot of traffic now.

MySpace is bad for advertising.

You get bad traffic that doesn't convert and it isn't worth it.

Have you considered sponsoring Wordpress, directory, proxy, and forum themes? This can be a great way to get some additional backlinks, though you don't have alot of control on what sites they will be on.

This method can also be "free" - for example you could buy a blog template, sell a couple of sponsor links on it and place a link to your forum as the designer. You should make enough money on selling the sponsor links to pay for the template you purchased in the first place.

The FREE Factor(Give Away)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes man this is a strong factor to get traffic to ur forum.Have some stuffs with give away rights.simply offer these services free to ur forum members.These stuffs should have some price value(i.e >0$).For example u can offer free domains,webhosting,ebooks,PLR or any info products.Simply put a FREEBEE section in ur forum n daily update this section.People love this term 'FREE'.U ll see the traffic flow to ur forum.:)
I agree with Domainate. If you have something free to give away, then make them make forum posts for it, and you'll get a quickly dedicated community.
It isn't easy starting a webmaster forum since the market is so saturated and since there are plenty of large webmaster forums that people can just go to. You would need something unique now a days to attract people.
Well personally i believe that if you offer some good incentives (Get Paid To Register or Get Paid To Refer) a webmaster forum can become popular ! Of course it will not be as big as NamePros but maybe 5 % of it :)
