Hello,

As you can see in my sig area that I have three directories working. I was going to put up a couple of others but I decided to stop for a while and go into the promotion mode.

I have announced my sites to the webmaster forums and using sig files and have been submitting to other directories.

So how about some promotion ideas from the experts here on other ways to promote my directories without spending a boat load of coin that I don't have.

You are using it as sigs in forums, right? Try to look in threads that are talking about directory. There, you can suggest your OWN directories.

Repeating a few but here are a couple ideas:

Forum sig links
Create nice logos & banners that are brandable and use them whenever possible
Ads on marketplace forums & directory announcement forums (Sitepoint Marketplace Advertising forum, DP Marketplace, etc.)
Write directory related articles w/ links and submit to article distribution sites
Trade links with other directory owners
Provide a free eBook, product, service, etc. with your links, images, directory names as part of the promotionals

Build a library of resources that will attract the target people and then your directory will have a bigger punch and worth. Takes more time then money. But you only need to build it once.

I have an industry resource website that I recently added a directory - and the money from the adsense now is doubled from the directory alone...the directory would probably never help any weight if it wasn't for the traffic from the resource.
