Default Times they are a changing...

It seems that Time Warner is going to change their pricing structure from a flat rate to a consumption charge. This means if you use a lot of bandwidth, you will pay more. With the push for you to buy high speed access, it seems counterproductive to start this method of charging. If people can't stream content without paying extra (such as with Netflix's online movie service and YouTube), what is the point of having high speed access? A simple 1Mb connection will load most web pages.

in here we have flat rates for 384kpbs usage but every 4 hours it disconnects due to bandwidth restriction/limit.

Wow, that must suck...

Honestly, you are right, a simple 1Mb connection would load almost any web pages.

Unless you run servers at home, which I used to do.:D

With lots of competition I am wondering why would they increase their rates? If people are fed up they will simply change their provider.

The industry is heavily liberalised there will always be alternatives. Love the pun of the title as well.
