I've got an interesting situation with a new client who works in a very competitive industry (laser hair removal). It appears a competitor has been posting his site to a bunch of junk link directories and link farms, probably with the goal of hurting the search engine results.
From what I've been taught it is impossible for a competitor to hurt a site by posting to other sites. Is that still true? I guess it must be or it would be a very common practice. Any ideas or comments? |

I have found that the term "JUNK" as far as a directory goes only applies if they allow nudity type sites in. I believe that some directories are stronger than others but they are still the #1 source for gaining term position and in a lot of cases....PR Directories kind of got a bad name for a bit because Google was blasting them left and right but people now know why that happened and it wasn't the fact that it was a directory,...it was what the directroy owners were doing with their directories to promote them and to gain PR! ![]()
