well having a unique template has its own advantages, but if an eye catching template is available then it helps a lot both in terms of less work as well as less money spent.

If you buy a unique one, no one else will use them; legally. If you find someone using your unique template, you could make a bunch of money suing them for using copyright material.

Cool article and I agree with the fact that one should use a template when coding multiple pages. It makes life lots easier when you want to change them. However, I think if you are going to use a prebuilt, you are better off to get a free one at oswd.org and change it a bit so it doesn't look quite as obvious. The problem with places that sell templates is 100's of sites have the same layout. Doesn't reflect well on a company who is trying to sell if they can't afford to at least have something that looks somewhat different.
