Hi, I've been wondering, do things like social bookmarks (Stumbleupon, del.icio.us and the like) and web directories actually improve your sites page rank?

Social bookmark can get you indexed, but will not credit your site with pagerank, because social bookmarking sites use nofollow tag

Web directories do help improve your page rank since you are getting more back links. I'm not sure what you mean by adsense, did you mean adwords?

Social bookmarking will give you lots of traffic especially if you've managed to get to the first page but as for pr most have a no-follow tag.

Best directories are those niche directories about a one subject. like if we take a directory about webmaster recourse then site submitted there which are about web mastering will be benefited better than from a general directory.

does the delicio.us or stumble brings traffic I heard only stumbleupon brings traffic

i havent tried directory submission but social bookmark did and it showed something in page rank

I am not sure what to say which is good fopr page rank

Submitting to directory can be a help but don't focus on that. Focus on your content and have one way quality links...

As far as PageRank is concerned I do not think that it has any effect. However I have noticed A TON of traffic from stumbleupon lately. I recommend that everyone try out a paid bot or something to submit for them. Because it does WONDERS for the site.
