Signatur links de help out, but also as everyone has said here, it really is down to to the individual to try and get their sig link on many forums and blogs.

You could get a site to pr3 easily with no other links than signature links. That's why I love siggy's

I think they work better as traffic than backlinks, although if you have your site that is the same niche as the forum, then they could be helpful as backlinks.

I think adding a signature can be helpful in forums if you offer good advice and are there for the discussion of the topic in a forum and not just to say great thread etc you know what I mean. I get ideas for the blog on our site from being in forums and it offers me several things.

I am new to SEO also so still learning. I saw a comment if there are 100 people in a thread may not be a strong a back link? Can anyone explain this further and is this true? Just curious!

I also hope if someone is interested in what I have to say they will click a signature and come visit our site as well.

Yup. I use them everywhere. Why? To get the domain out there I guess.

i think signature can use both of them. as a direct traffic source and as back links. i have more traffic from signature. so..just use it :D

I personally think my signature is hilarious, if I had more space to write out some funny CSS code, (I'm a CSS master) :) then I'd do this..

For those of you who don't know CSS, or HTML,

<b> is to bold stuff
<u> is to underline stuff

u {
text-decoration: none;
}

removes the underline, thus making it worthless. I bet you can figure out what
b {
font-weight: none;
}

does. It removes boldness! Seems funny to me :)

Thats a matter of opinion.. How good are they.. You can't say there part of SEO directly.. How much does it really help? Honestly, there everywhere I stop looking after a while.. I only look at the ones that good members have.

You wouldn't believe how much they help.

I got a site indexed fully with forum sigs alone as an experiment. They are fast acting especially with a well indexed site like this forum.

You can only have 4 lines of signature. I don't want to take out the <style> tag's because people might not know what I'm talking about. I think it's funny. Dunno about you. I have Microsoft Windows XP Home edition. School is using a different Windows OS. Dunno which one.

I use forum sigs for both purposes: as a source of site's traffic and backlinks.
