hello guys , I red it on the net that backlinks from .edu sites can affect your site ranking and traffic to a great extent . Can someone explain me why it happens ? How backlinks from the .edu sites are different from .co or other domains ?

Back link form .edu is so helpful to increase search engine because it is link from reputed education website which has high page rank. Back link from .gov domain is also beneficial and reputed like education domain.

If the links are pointing you from quality websites...that is enough and doesn't care about .eu/.gov/.com etc., You can start building links with several blogs but the thing is they must have genuine & original content on it.

There is no guarantee that all EDU domains or GOV sites are very strong internet spots and that getting one link from them will affect the ranking of your site considerably but it is generally believed that since such kinds of websites are moderated in a professional way, managed by communities and teams of admins and they are not monetized like most other financial ranges of sites, so they can be considered to be authority projects on the internet.

Naturally, in most cases the EDU and GOV sites are found with high rankings and PR scores and getting accessed by many people and readers on a daily basis. If they decide to give links to other sites or blogs, they naturally are also trustworthy portals and information-rich sites. It is not actually possible to contact the admins of those sites directly and requesting to be awarded with some free, one-way links from their homepages.

But its not easy to get .edu backlinks easily. You need relevant comments for it.

There is a scam running around that says you can get links on .edu sites.
But they are not true .edu sites!
Instead, look at the url and it will be something like: whatever.edu.com (or some other tld).

Just remember, a good link regardless of where from is a good link.

Linking to .edu or .gov helps our site a lot be cause most of them are reputation and high ranking. However, it is not easy to link with them.

It is not easy to get the backlinks from .edu. It is more condition to apply the rules than admin to decide the permission of your website. but it is more portable for site of that type of links. Nice post for sharing the knowledge.
