Will PhpBB 3 destroy PhpBB 2?

Since the release of PhpBB 3, there has been less and less time being paid attention to PhpBB 2. I think it will soon dominate PhpBB 2, which is quite unfair :(

I think that you are right!!

I have a phpBB version 3 site that I am purely experimenting with at www.webmasterforum.bz and so far I have to say that it is pretty decent so far in testing!

MyBB is also a pretty decent freebie too!! kina looks like VB! :rolleyes:

For existing sites PhpBB 2 is still better better, but for people just starting forums then go with phpBB 3 straight away.

I moved to SMF long time ago after a hacker attack. I Wonder how good this PHPbb 3 is. I hope it has better hacker resistance then is ancestors had.

I personally think PhpBB 3 will be the best free forum software 2-3 months after the final release has been released as there will be so many styles and mods avaiable, they would be no reason on why not to go with PhpBB 3.

I have yet to try phpBB3 but I know phpbb2 was extremely insecure. For a free forum it would probably work, but if you are planning on being big pay for a real script.

Yeah, thats the downside, PhpBB3 is taking quite a while to come up with a stable release :( I just can't wait until they do!

They are going to be releasing PhpBB 3 GOLD on Thursday!! I am so excited for it. I am surely now not going to buy a vBulletin License! :) PhpBB 3 would be fully as good as vBulletin.
