Default Need help with programming server

Hello, this is my first post here. I'm having a problem with making a web server. I'm building it from ground up, i got my visual studio out and just started coding. I had never designed a server for web pages before but i had done something very similar. I once was competiting with other teams in this 'game' where we had to design the best server with the most features, and being the most user friendly, and the only obstacle was that we could not edit the client. This was much the same, except this time the client is very versatile, your favorite web broswer.
Any way i need help im using MS winsock and i need to know how to redirect the client to a certain web page. What do i use the winsock to send? I need it so that it would be as if the user had typed in an address in the address bar and hit GO.

Wouldn't you use the web server to receive info from the standard server port 80?

And then you could create a directory with a public_html that port 80 could access.
