    Default Link building basics

    Hi all,
I am very new to website development so this is really a basic topic about link building. I have read quite a bit on the pros and cons but I do not know the procedures of adding a link.
If I am going to exchange links with someone, do both of us agree to add a section to our scripts so that the person on our site can click on this link and go to our site?
I hope I am being clear on this. I guess I just dont know what to do with a link that I exchange with someone?
Any help on this or point me in the right direction would be great!
    Thank

If you are talking about link exchange, which i guess you are, then you must both share your site details and then subsequently add that link on your site and check whether the other person does the same for your site.

You place their link on your homepage and they place your link on their homepage. That's the basic formula.

Of course, homepages can get rather cluttered with this arrangement, so
many people create a separate page just for links.

Updating that separate page can be time consuming so lots of people install
some sort of link script with an admin control panel.

    see?

    Dear Newbie..

For link exchange purpose, you need to search first the related themed sites with whom you will ask to exchange the site links. If the other person is ready in exchanging links, add the link detail of his site on your one of the web page and send him a detail of your site so that he will link your site on his one of the web page.

But be careful, that the theme should be relevant as well as check for the bad neighborhood links, as if its present on the links page, it will reduce the ranks of site so beware and try to go for quality link exchange.

    Good Luck!!

better idea is to create your own wordpress, joomla, drupal themes with link to your website and give it as free.

Doing link exchange to other sites, you both agree that you put your sites link on there site so that visitors can view them, vise versa, but I would prefer to use one-way link exchange.. Its pretty much better than reciprocal links.

Link building is the process of creating inbound links by means to ones own website. Forum posting, link exchange, social bookmarking and networking, hub page, squidoo and article submission are just some of the link building techniques.
