- Web link directory submission;
- Article directory submission;
- Social bookmarking;
- Press release submission;
- Search engine submission;
- Forum posting;
- Link exchange with topic related sites;

I would add Purchased Links, but I still have to figure if that is considered a black hat technique and can give you a penalty.

I do not reccomend it but it's an option.

yes now these days after Link ex I get only resource page or Spammy links.
s Its good idea to purchase links But not looks like paid.

I used to use forum posting and blogs commenting. It helps me to build backlink.

yahooanswers.com is also one of the most effective ways of getting good traffic and also some back-links on other search engines as

does not consider "no-follow" links, but some other search engines do...

These are all GREAT strategies, but you did forget another major one. BLOGGING!

Having a blog is not the same as building links.

Yahoo answer is a quality if you are voted for the best answers. It drives traffic as well. I can see many question and answers coming from yahoo answers in Google search results.

Aside from the lists, also include classified ads, social book marking and online groups..

Blogging and article postings/ submissions are also great ways to drive visitors to a site. When they stumble upon well-written articles, the tendency is to keep coming back to the site and checking out other articles; therefore increasing traffic.
