Directory listing is a good strategy to use for link building. It takes time but research quality, industry specific directories. There are the good and the bad with free and paid directory sites. :)

Get oneway link building and content link will be preferred by Google.Either this is sites pages or blog posts.

Get quality back-link to your site. And one thing to understand here is that Pagerank is

s assessment of your page. Its not something that great. It is indeed important to have PR but thats a secondary thing. Building Quality link-backs is the most important thing. You can do that by Link Exchange, submitting your site to good quality dirs, Blog posting and commenting, commenting on forums and make sure you do these ethically and don't spam these. Just take care of quality back-links and you will have your site getting listed in the rankings and also get PR.:)

Link exchange is the best but it only happen when you get quality backlink from strong website. If your website is new, you shall go for dofollow forum posting and dofollow blog commenting since you cant get any link exchange from quality website
