I suggest for beginners to use Notepad. It will greatly enhance your knowledge about the HTML tags and its uses. Or teacher even told us that it's better to start on coding than on WYSIWYG editors.

I agree it is a good practice but there is really no need to use because i guess WYSIWYG editor has made it really easy for anyone to play with html.. I mean it will be there in the future always..

I use dreamweaver....

I like to use Dreamweaver in code view. I grew up with it so it feels comfortable. I do also like notepad++ and the color coding options you get.

My top choice for experienced users goes to HTML-Kit. HTML-Kit began as a specialized html editor but now has so many plugins that it is a highly customizable and extensible development environment. The latest freeware release is build 292, and plug-ins continue to be developed and extended, keeping this software very up to date.

I find gedit to be full of useful features and is installed by default on the Gnome desktop. My favorite feature is the tabbed interface, where multiple files can be opened in tabs.

I have always used Adobe (was Macromedia) Dreamweaver. It's really a very good piece of software. I personally like to design the site with the GUI in Dreamweaver then clean up the code afterward.

There are many tools available for the HTML Editor, I prefer using the dreamviewer, But for the short applications I try using the simple notepad editor of windows.
