Question text in Photoshop

I have a question regarding text in Photoshop. I'm using version 6 and I would like to produce text that is "hollow." That is to say, that it isn't filled in with a color, only an outline of the letters would be visible. I would also like to be able to vary the thickness of the outline, if possible. If this is possible, then is it also possible to place other images behind the text and still be able to see them through the hollow text?

thanks
:D:)

I'll tell you how I'd do it though.:D I've never tried Photoshop 6 but I've tried 7 so it might be quite similar.

- Add the text on the canvas. It doesn't matter what colour you choose.
- Add 'outline' to layer style. You will be allowed to modify the thickness of the outline, the default is '3 (px)'.
- Since you want the text to be hollow, simply move the transparency bar to 0%. You'll be able to find this on the layer window.

You should now be able to see the outline of the text, but not the colour. Any image you place behind this text layer should appear behind the text image.

I wish I could upload screenshots but I don't have Photoshop installed right now (I'm having PC problems).:o

Of course you could also download a special font that is hollow.
