hello everybody i want to start a topic about the difference between web design and graphic design. i think these both the same meanings. what do you think.

I would disagree. In my opinion you need to have at the very least a cursory understanding of Search Engine Optimization and web browsing habits, the same is not true for Graphic Design.

I think these 2 might be similar in technique but their productions are used in different fields so there would be different while exporting. :)

Its just 2 different areas in designing even though they have a connection.Web design will adjoin with graphic design when there is a neccisity to develop some designs which has to be embedded into the web site.

I think Both of them must be same in the aspect of website development process.. but they have to differentiated in that ways they are used and procedures, languages, etc.,

Graphic design is almost everything, starting from web design, identity design, catalogue design, even advertisement design. It has no size. But web design is limited only with web design. That can be see on the screen.

Graphic design includes logos and print design. Graphic Design includes anything in the world that you see that has been created and printed (or displayed as part of a layout). This can be ads, magazines, newspaper layouts, newspaper ads, billboards, logos, brochures, books, decals you find on toys, CD labels & booklets, movie posters, and so much more. It encompasses all things in the print world. And it's not just the layout that is created by graphic designers. We also create, well, "graphics," such as those photos you see in magazines - a graphic designer had most likely altered it after the photographer made the shot.

Web design overlaps graphic design in the graphics and overall appearance (layout) and flow of the site/pages, but web design also includes all the technical aspects of creating a website, such as the coding past basic layout.

Graphic design does not take user interaction into account whereas web design does. Most web designers also need to understand the basics of programming in order to make a website as efficient and solid as possible. Web designers also have to interact with web engineers and programmers to deal with multiple graphic states for various items like buttons, rollovers, etc.

Web design also often includes the use of motion graphics, audio, and video. Graphic designers generally only have to deal with a printer or screen printer for their production. I say web designers definitely are the more technically advanced of the two.

My favorite subject! I'm a freelance Graphic Designer. This is a very complex question I will try to answer as well as I can.First of all...Graphic design is not art. It's not self-serving as fine art is.Graphic design is visually & effectively conveying a message to the general population (ads, business cards, letter heads, magazines, etc). It persuades and influences and informs the public.

there is a big difference between a graphic designer and web designer. specially the medium they are using. graphic designer use "print designing"
