Is that true that your rankings will burst up at

if you get some outbound links from Wikipedia? I was looking at Page Strength tool by Seomoz and they also take wikipedia links into consideration while generating reports. Any idea?

Don't they use "nofellow" Tags ? If they dont use then it would be good. But it not working becouse it it does then Wikipedia would have bombed with link spamming.

Its very hard to get a link from wikipedia without them removing it in a short while.

Yup. They do have nofollow tags so it wouldn't help you backlink count. However having a link to your site on Wikipedia will bring traffic to your site since so many people use it.

Links on Wikipedia do not count as backlinks.

However, the traffic is nice.

Just make sure it's in the right place or they'll remove it.

first of all wikipedia is itself a great site and a link their will be great for PR.Also

and wikipedia are somewhat a collaborated pair..so a wikipedia link helps a lot in SEO

Thanks everyone for responses. To date, I have got many Wikipedia links and they are bringing nice traffic. I haven't seen much improvement in SE rankings but the traffic is a bonus.

Well, actually traffic from Wikipedia isn't bad at all, but only if you could keep your links on Wikipedia pages without being removed quickly.

well i am not sure about rank boasting but if you have right content then wikipedia link adds bonus traffic a lot, i have 2 links for the past 1 month in technical rightup sections, and i recieve about 10+ visitor's each day jusdt because of those links.

My final conclusion is that:

1) They give you good traffic (as long as they are not removed quickly). Have strong content and try to place links on less popular pages.
2) They won't help you get a PR increase.

Ypu that's right except if you have strong content then you can clip it to any page what ever may be its popularity.
