I don't think WorPress, the independent URL scripts anyways, will be affected by the new blog engines but I think you are right about BlogSpot and the standard WP!!

Well Google does priority spidering with the news casts first depending on your SEO PR. News Stations, like ABC or MSNBC, get about 40 updates a day, while blogs with low PR may get an update every 2-3 days depending.
