Forum or Forums?

Well this thread has been going for awhile!

I personally think that whichever way is fine. It is how you structure your SEO to reach the target terms if that is why you are asking.

Now there is something to me said about forums.whatever.com,

You can actually have a separate server, or hosting account for your forum and name the account forums.whatever.com if you have a dedicated or a VPS server which contains your files to the forum only if it were to get corrupt.

Of course it limits bridging opportunities if you are needing to bridge to like Wordpress or other.
