I know that the best forum software is Vbulliten but.. as far as free? I like SMF and phpBB. phpBB looks better while SMF has better features. What do you think?

IF you can pay Vbulliten is the best but for free forums i think SMF is the best one. phpBB has great skins but easily get hacked.

I would go for phpbb if I need to as I see such a large community and too many addons to apply on your board... too many free skins available and when it comes to talk about security then keep your board up to date .....

The best things in life are free so I'll go with SMF. It is competitive as paid software.

MyBB is all-out the best free forum software.

The best paid one is probably Vbulletin, but IPB is a better deal.

The top forums are vBullletin, SMF, phpBB and InvisionPowerBoard. My vote goes to SMF, because it's free, light and easy to use.

Smf has some good features but there is bug that i always follow.Often when we click on post button the All pages opened in internet explorer,for SMF forum closed automaticalyy..
This is the byg in SMF forum..I noted this

Best free alternative in my opinion is MyBB. I use it now with 4 forums :)

My preference goes to phpbb.

The most simple and efficient to create a forum, imho ;)
If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : create forum
