I use mySQL, it's really easy and plays nicely with PHP

Mysql No doubt, But Now PHP 5.x comes bundled with Data Base called SQLite. So in future PHP might give better support for that rather than MySQl but for the moment the best is MySql.

Yeah, MySQL was pretty much made for PHP and Vice Versa.

Puffin, I never knew that about SQLite...very interesting. That could be a big mistake for PHP.

No it will be next great wave that way there wont be need or space of another database server for simple sites. this thing is important specially for PHP standalone application platform also known as PHP GTK.

It depends on what database you learned to code with PHP and what you are used to. For many people, they only know MySql and are afraid to try something different. It's human nature. Though they don't realize they could be using an outdated version. So for all those people, try something new! Ms Sql. Microsoft sucks but try it if you do like Microsoft. (I hate them for being so mean to us Web Developers xD) IE is worthless in my opinion and I don't see why people like it so much lmao

I think your going to find that 90% of the people who use databases will use mySQL. It is the most popular one out there and IMO, the one with the most tutorials.

Especially if you plan for portability to other servers for the script you are writing, I would go with PHP and MySQL. They are the most common, by far, on most hosting providers.
