I think you are on the right track on this myself but maybe webeweb was referring to the fact that Matt Cutts published on his blog to be aware of link exchanges as a means of term manipulation but I still think that Relevant exchanges are healthy!
You did mention content in a positive way and you are right about the 9 minute video. That is not enough time to cover that subject but the Fact is that with Googles new spiders and search term rules, you will land in many search terms just from the content in your site, mostly from the top portion of your content as many of you will notice that in a lot of cases Google will use that for your site description.
I think that you attached the content to Traffic.....and I think that it would be more accurate if attached to a way to generate more search terms which will then get you more traffic.
I personally think that you have a very good understanding of SEO!
I also Totally Agree with you on Directory Submissions!! There are many people that are cheating themselves out of some great SEO by listening to some of the

about the way that Google has been hitting the directories! Directories are still THE BEST way to get your site some SERP attention, that and socials that is, not to mention article submissions!
It is true that some of the Directory Biggies got hit but it wasnt for the reasons that people talk about mostly!!
Thanks for the great video!
