I'll tell you how I'd do it though.:D I've never tried Photoshop 6 but I've tried 7 so it might be quite similar.

- Add the text on the canvas. It doesn't matter what colour you choose.
- Add 'outline' to layer style. You will be allowed to modify the thickness of the outline, the default is '3 (px)'.
- Since you want the text to be hollow, simply move the transparency bar to 0%. You'll be able to find this on the layer window.

You should now be able to see the outline of the text, but not the colour. Any image you place behind this text layer should appear behind the text image.

I wish I could upload screenshots but I don't have Photoshop installed right now (I'm having PC problems).:o
